On May 28, 2026, the Friends of Aransas NWR unveiled a sculpture installed at the entrance of the Visitor Center at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. The sculpture of a life-size family of Whooping Cranes, rendered in steel, was commissioned by the Friends group, to be a lasting monument to the past, present and future conservation efforts at the Refuge.

The sculptor is Joe Powers (www.artinsteel.net), who specializes in art inspired by a devout love and respect of nature.
Come out to the Refuge and see the sculpture!
